The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Area Construction Manager to join our team working on the LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation.

The LNG Canada project is a joint venture backed by five global energy companies with substantial experience in liquefied natural gas. Together Shell, PETRONAS, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation and KOGAS are designing, building and operating a world-class export terminal in Kitimat, British Columbia. The Clough/PPM joint venture has been awarded the EPC contract for designing and building a loadout line trestle.

The Position

As the Area Construction Manager, you will ensure all site construction activities proceed within schedule and budget and in accordance with the specifications.

• Overall responsibility for the safe and high-quality implementation of all construction activities

• Implement corporate and project policies and procedures

• Ensure all applicable safety codes, requirements and standards are complied with

• Prepare and work to schedules, weekly work plans, construction methods and procedures

• Determine manpower requirements and liaise with Construction Manager & HR to recruit

• Schedule and co-ordinate work to be performed and monitor work achieved by each discipline

• Co-ordinate all construction activities with Superintendents and Subcontractors

• Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules, and the subcontract documents

• Ensure control of materials throughout site is maintained

• Schedule and direct engineering input into site activities

• Report and forecast construction progress and on-site manpower

• Review and approve subcontractors progress invoices and claims

• Evaluate the performance of subordinates

• Attend pre-start and debrief meetings with each separate crew under their leadership daily

• Carry out all inspections and audits (safety and productivity) as per the minimum required KPI’s

• Mentor subordinates toward furthering their leadership skills

• Ensure all site systems, processes, procedures and safe work practices are utilized by all personnel

• Provide leadership and promote the safety culture and ownership

• Focal point for all construction reporting and progress validation

• Promote safety, and sound environmental working practices.

• Implement the safety & environmental management systems. Ensure construction plans incorporate consideration of Safety and the Environment

Requirements

• Trade Qualification or relevant discipline qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years construction experience in project roles with similar discipline requirements

• 5 years’ experience at a senior supervisory level

• Demonstrated experience with specific systems, databases, etc.

• Professional presentation and able to represent the project at a high standard when interfacing with stakeholders

• Able to delegate and take responsibility to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently and maximizes project and individual effectiveness

• Experience working under Permit to Work Systems and adhering to Permit to Work conditions

• Able to use tools and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
